Bolgheri DOC

Overview

Bolgheri is Italy’s most prestigious Bordeaux-style wine region, home to the legendary “Super Tuscans” that transformed Italian wine in the late 20th century. This coastal Tuscan appellation, established as DOC in 1994, produces powerful, age-worthy wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc that have achieved cult status worldwide. Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Masseto—all from Bolgheri—rank among the world’s most sought-after and expensive wines, proving that Tuscany could rival Bordeaux on its own terms.
