Chinon AOC

Overview

Chinon is the Loire Valley’s most celebrated red wine appellation, producing pure Cabernet Franc wines that range from fresh and charming to structured and age-worthy depending on terroir. Established in 1937, this historic region surrounding the medieval fortress of Chinon has been producing wine since at least Roman times and represents the benchmark expression of Cabernet Franc worldwide. The interplay between sand, gravel, and tuffeau (limestone tuff) soils creates a remarkable diversity of styles within a single appellation.
