Savennières AOC
Permitted Varieties
Savennières AOC
Overview
Savennières is arguably the world’s greatest dry Chenin Blanc appellation, producing powerful, mineral-driven white wines that can age for decades from steep schist slopes above the Loire River. This tiny AOC contains two legendary single-vineyard appellations—Coulée de Serrant and Roche aux Moines—that produce some of France’s most distinctive and long-lived white wines. Savennières demands patience: young wines can be austere and tight, but with time they develop extraordinary complexity.
