Crozes-Hermitage AOC

Overview

Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation in the Northern Rhône, producing approachable, value-driven Syrah-based wines that offer an introduction to the region’s distinctive style. Established in 1937, this AOC surrounds the famous hill of Hermitage and encompasses a diverse range of terroirs from steep granite slopes to flat alluvial plains. While some producers make wines that rival Hermitage at a fraction of the price, Crozes-Hermitage’s primary appeal lies in its ability to deliver classic Northern Rhône character—peppery, herbal Syrah with violet aromatics—at accessible price points.
